Wastewater Discharge Permit Application for Expedition

Tenaska has filed an application for Expedition Generating Station’s wastewater discharge permit with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Follow this link to search for the proceeding for a Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) permit on the DEQ’s website.

Expedition must receive this and several other permits before advancing to construction. On our current timeline, construction would start no earlier than late 2027 and continue for roughly four years. Operations would start no earlier than late 2031.

We will continue to provide updates as our work progresses. If you have questions for our team, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

State Corporation Commission Sets Public Comment for CPCN

The State Corporation Commission has set the public comment milestones for Expedition’s application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN).

You can view the public notice here. Of note, the deadline for public comment is Jan. 6, 2027 and in-person testimony will be taken Jan. 12, 2027 in Richmond.

The CPCN process considers the need for the project and whether it meets environmental standards, among other things. You can access Expedition’s proceeding here: Virginia SCC – Case Summary.
